Finished!! – Farm Girl Vintage Quilt

The weather finally cooperated today and I got a better picture of my Farm Girl Vintage quilt! This thing is huge! It nearly touches the floor on both sides of our queen bed and it’s way too long in the lengthwise dimension, but I love it and it looks great in our room. Very cheerful! πŸ™‚

Farm Girl Vintage Quilt - FINISHED!!!

Quick recap:Β All 12″ blocks. Inner sashing is 3″ wide. The yellow border and two white borders are 2″ wide. There was a 6″ red border, but it was too wide for my longarmer’s machine, so most of that was cut off. I made a scrappy binding out of some of my leftovers. ❀

Finished!! – Farm Girl Vintage Quilt

I was beginning to think this day would never arrive!! I finally finished my Farm Girl Vintage Quilt today!! I stitched on the last of the binding and the monster is done. Yay!! The weather has tanked again, so I’ll have to wait for it to dry out before I can get some better pictures, but here’s one to tide you over. πŸ™‚

Farm Girl Vintage - Finally Finished

In Progress – Farm Girl Vintage – Quilt Top Complete!!!

Today is a banner day! I’ve finished the top for my Farm Girl Vintage quilt! FINALLY! πŸ™‚ Here she is! Pardon the background, but I had to spread it out in the driveway so I could take a picture from the second floor deck because it’s so huge. I love it! Fat Quarter Shop – Little Joys Quilt Along

Yes, I’m starting yet another quilt! πŸ™‚ I’m going to be making the Little Joys quilt by Fat Quarter Shop. It will be nice to have a smaller project to work on after this gigantic Farm Girl Vintage quilt that I’m working on. You can see all the info on the Little Joys Quilt on the Fat Quarter Shop blog here: Jolly Jabber. The patterns will be free and they have a cute kit available for purchase. I’m going to be using fabrics from the new Tole Christmas by Gina Martin for Moda Fabrics Fat Quarter Bundle that I just bought. I still need to choose a solid or low volume background though. Hmmm… πŸ™‚

Speaking of my Farm Girl Vintage quilt, I just received the fabric for the final outer border yesterday! I’m planning to get that cut into six inch strips today and start putting the border on. I’d like to have that done before we leave for vacation on the 11th. We’ll see if it actually happens. My last decision on that quilt will be on the binding. I bought some fabric to make the binding, but now I’m thinking I could use up a bunch of scraps by making a scrappy binding. Hmmm… πŸ™‚

Decisions, decisions!

Finished! – Farm Girl Vintage Potholder Swap

I joined a potholder swap on aΒ Farm Girl Vintage sew-along group on Facebook. I got my recipient’s info a few days ago. She requested 1930s fabric and didn’t have a preference on the block pattern, so I chose the fabrics out of my stash and picked the Grandma’s Quilt block pattern. After making all the 12-inch blocks for my quilt, this 6-inch block seemed really tiny. πŸ™‚ I enjoyed making it and I think it came out really nice. I hope my recipient likes it! πŸ™‚

In Progress – Farm Girl Vintage Quilt – Top almost complete!

I’ve sewed all the rows together and finished the nine-patch border! Pardon the lumpiness of this huge thing. I was too excited to take the time to press it. πŸ™‚ I still haven’t figured out what to do about the outer border though. I think I may do a narrow white border and then some sort of red outside that. The backing is going to be a yellow with white polka dots – fun! πŸ™‚
