New Quilts by Laurel blog home!!

I’m participating in the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop! Part of the lead-up to the actual blog hop itself was the opportunity to participate in small group blog critiques. I participated with Amanda at Gypsy Moon Quilt Co., Amanda at This Mom Quilts and Carol at Carol Lyles Shaw. I received some great feedback and suggestions, which I have incorporated into my new blog at Quilts By Laurel.com!

I’m going to leave all of my old posts up at this old address, but all my new posts will be at the new address. I hope all of my loyal followers will follow me over there! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

In Progress – Bonnie & Camille Barn Quilt Swap

A couple of weeks ago, I signed up for Wifeoferp’s Bonnie & Camille Barn Quilt Swap. I’m not usually one to participate in swaps, but this one combined one of my favorite fabric designers with barn quilts, which I also love, so how could I say no? 😀

After I received my partner’s information, I picked a block and a fabric line – Hello Darling by Bonnie & Camille, of course. I really love this line and I had a fat eighth bundle sitting around pleading for me to do something with it. 😀

I cut and sewed the top today, but I don’t want to post it until my partner receives it, so you just get a sneak peek:

I’m hoping to at least get it basted and start on the quilting tomorrow. I might even get it finished? I guess we’ll see. 🙂

In Progress – Minecraft Quilt – Top Almost Complete

I managed to carve out a couple of hours to get this top mostly put together yesterday! All I have left is putting on the borders. My daughter loves it already. 🙂

Minecraft Quilt - Top Almost Complete

Kelli over at That Looks Like It Needs Stitches posted a picture of an Ender Dragon that her son drew up. My daughter saw it and demanded that I make it for her quilt too. 😀 I’ve made a very preliminary pattern in my cross stitch design software. I need to figure out the best way to piece it and then I’m going to make a pieced back. Should be fun…or something. 😀

In Progress – Summer Sampler 2016 – Block 3

I’m quilting along on my Summer Sampler 2016 quilt! This week, block number three was released and it’s called Snow Cone for obvious reasons. 🙂 This was the first time I’ve ever made a quilt block with curves and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be. I used lots of pins and lots of patience! 🙂

Here are all three of my blocks so far:

Minecraft Quilt – Block 20 – Slime

Yay! It’s block number 20 of 20 blocks needed to make the quilt top! This block turned out to be the most “complicated”. Complicated in quotes because it was still super easy, but it had smaller pieces to deal with than any of the other blocks. Still fun to make though! 🙂

Minecraft Quilt - Block 20 - Slime

I stole an idea from the Fat Quarter Shop blog and used the Spell It With Fabric letters from Moda to make my daughter’s name for her quilt. I think it came out great and will look super cute on the quilt. ❤
